Birthing season is coming to a close

I have survived the birthing season. The season started out with 2 white cria born before shearing day.  Their birthdays are, April 27th for Treymendous' 9 lb. female cria and May 5th for Sugar Tootie's 11 lb. male cria.
May 15th was shearing day and both new cria were shorn right along with the rest of the herd. They sure looked tiny after shearing, but there were no problems with their moms reclaiming them. Everyone knew to  whom they belonged.
May 22nd, Tootie Fruity had a beautiful white 12 lb. female. Sadly, 2 days later the cria was found down, in the morning, weak and limp. Off to the vet we rushed. A very hard time was had by the vet to get an IV started, but after only 2 tries, it worked. Fluid was given and the cria perked up. The vet, Sarah, sent me rushing home to milk out the dam. I think Tootie Fruity was really mad with me!  I did manage to get 45ml milk, with Tootie jumping and swaying.   I was babysitting my little 6 yr old friend that day and he had to sit at the vet's office the whole time. Jud was so well behaved, he seemed to know there was trouble with the cria. Sadly, that beautiful cria did not survive. She was found to have a congenital heart disease.
The season progressed with lots more cria, mostly brown girls (yeah)!
